We have already announced a few days ago a CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS for the online workshop PUBLIC SPACE AND PEOPLE directed by sociologist Andres Walliser and today we want to give you all the details about the second dreamhamar online workshop scheduled for October 2011: we invite students, designers and creatives from all over the world to register for TACTICAL URBANISM, a workshop directed by Ethel Baraona Pohl and Paco Gonzalez.
The workshop focus on network learning and network design applied to a specific case study – the design of a public space: Stortorget Square in Hamar, Norway. Via the workshop, participants will be able to be part of an international network of professionals and talented people. The aim is to develop and share ideas about the design of the square.

As architects and city planners we have reached so specialized level of knowledge and theories of urban form, based on cultural/economic/natural factors, settlement patterns, structure, elements, typologies, design and planning. We have now great visualization tools to map our city, massive infrastructure to provide services, ever-growing network systems to connect citizens in between them and abroad. What happens if we use all this tools and knowledge to get back our “right to the city” [1] and start designing from the very first stages with a network thinking and methodologies? Dan Hill pointed about the use of new technologies related with urban planning:
In an article on the matter, Chris Johnson asks whether “the free access to web-based information on planning projects [is] leading to a new democracy in planning?” The answer is of course ‘a qualified yes’, but perhaps more importantly the question should be, “What kind of democracy, and what kind of planning?”
Tactical urbanism is aimed to develop urban practices with the use of new technologies, which improves the livability of our towns and cities, starting at the street, block, and public space. If we agree with Henri Lefebvre [2] when he says that the urban is, therefore, pure form; a place of encounter, assembly, simultaneity; we can see the importance of the concept of “tactical urbanism” and how a connected society is able to take the city back.
Ethel Baraona Pohl. Architect [but she prefers Professional Amateur] who develops her professional work linked to a number of technical publications in the architectural field. Working as contributing editor for different blogs and magazines, she has written articles for Plataforma Arquitectura, Arch Daily, La Ciudad Viva, MAS Context and Domus, among others. Her work for dpr-barcelona BLOG was selected to take part in Postópolis! DF, a public five-day session of near-continuous conversation. Co-founder of the independent publishing house dpr-barcelona with César Reyes, they have published some interesting and innovative titles as piel.skin, WATERCUBE The Book, ¿Alguien Dijo Participar? and Situation Room.
Paco Gonzalez. Architect, works and investigates at radarq.net, Universidad de Sevilla (2005) and Master of City Management (2008) from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). Founder of radarq.net an open studio which works and researches at architecture, network and city. Tutor and Consultant profesor in the Master of City Management of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). Preferred fellow for ZEMOS98 Gestión Creativo Cultural, dpr-barcelona, Juan Freire, José Luis de Vicente, Transit Cultura, Ecosistema Urbano and ZZZINC.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

| networking | each workshop will have its own blog hosted in dreamhamar.org where participants will be able to meet, interact with each other, and build their own network of creatives from all over the world.
| tools | participants will learn to use network design and communication tools such as livestream, wordpress, google+, twitter, facebook, posterous, and so on.
| publication | each participant will submit a project or an idea at the end of the workshop, which will be published under a creative commons license in dreamhamar and ecosistema urbano websites.
